Hardware

What was installed, and why.

  • Modules — 93× panels

REC460AA PURE-RX. Sized to cover the home's 12-month baseline load with a minor buffer for future electrification.

  • Inverter — Powerwall 3 integrated

DC-coupled through the Powerwall 3's integrated 11.5 kW solar inverter. One device, one monitoring app, one fewer point of failure.

  • Battery — Tesla Powerwall 3

40.5 kWh usable. Whole-home backup through grid outages, and time-of-use shifting when utility peak tariffs apply.

  • Racking — mounting system

Standoffs anchored with stainless-steel bolts directly into the roof trusses

Project notes

About the project

This Plantation home is in the same tier as the large Davie install — large residential, high consumption, and built for full grid-independence during outages. Sprightful designed a 93-panel, 42.78 kW rooftop array using REC's newest 460-watt Pure-RX modules — the high-density variant that packs more output into the same panel footprint — paired with three Tesla Powerwall 3 batteries for 40.5 kWh of usable backup.

The project moved through Sprightful's five-step process in roughly four months: contract signed in late July 2025, permits submitted to the City of Plantation in early September, approved in October, installation starting October 30, and the final fire inspection passing December 2. Net-metering was submitted to FPL within a week of final inspection. The Pure-RX modules and Powerwall 3 stack are currently the most advanced residential hardware on the market, which makes this build an effective template for how Sprightful is designing systems through 2026.

Why it matters

A 30-year financial and environmental decision.

These aren't projections pulled from thin air. FRCC eGRID emissions data, current FPL residential tariff, and modeled production under South Florida irradiance (~1,500 kWh/kW/yr).

Good-faith estimates using FRCC eGRID emissions data, current FPL tariff, and Aurora-modeled production. Actual results vary with shading, weather, and future rate changes.

Our experience with Sprightful was outstanding from start to finish. One of the best things about working with Pablo and his team at Sprightful is their communication, which includes clear timelines and proactive updates. Pablo set up a group chat that worked perfectly.

This was a large project, involving the installation of 41 KWH panels and 3 Tesla Powerwalls at our 5,000-square-foot home. His team made the entire process seamless by handling permits, inspections, financing, and all coordination with FPL efficiently and transparently. We signed up with them in August and had our system fully operational well before the December 31st tax rebate deadline. I know he had many other clients trying to get their solar systems installed by year's end, but he always made us feel like we were his only customer. In fact, shortly after installation, I had trouble with my Tesla app, and Pablo came by to help me troubleshoot it.

This contrasts sharply with our previous experience at our prior house, where I chose Tesla for installing the solar panels and backup batteries. Tesla's installation process was marked by poor communication and poorly trained installers. At one point during the installation, I had to go into my attic to help them find a truss. And when I had issues, it was nearly impossible to reach Tesla. Truly a night-and-day difference compared to my experience with Sprightful.

The Sprightful installation crew was punctual, professional, and detail-oriented, leaving everything clean and completed exactly as promised. I was especially impressed with how meticulously they attached the brackets to our tile roof decking. Very impressive! We are now generating a lot of energy and net-metering the excess with FPL. I can't wait to see our production numbers once summer arrives. Moreover, we feel so fortunate to have peace of mind in the event of a power outage. It's rare to find a company that manages the entire solar process so smoothly while providing excellent customer service. If you're considering solar, I highly recommend this local company. Thanks again, Pablo and the rest of the team!

FAQ

Solar in Plantation, FL.

How long does the solar permit process take in Plantation?

Plantation took 51 days from submittal to approval on this project. Typical range we've seen is 2–8 weeks depending on whether the roof assembly requires a secondary wind-load review.

What size solar system is typical for a Plantation home?

Most Plantation homeowners land between 8–16 kW — sized to offset 90–100% of their FPL bill. This project is 42.78 kW, on the larger end.

Does my HOA need to approve it?

Florida's Solar Rights Act (§163.04) prevents HOAs from outright banning rooftop solar. They can make reasonable aesthetic requests — we handle the HOA submittal directly and have a 100% approval rate to date.

What rebates and incentives are available in Broward County?

The 30% federal Investment Tax Credit (ITC) is the primary incentive — Florida has no state-level solar rebate. There's also no property tax increase for the added home value (Florida exemption), and no sales tax on the equipment.
